Yoruba Groups Meet, Suggest Ways To Save Yoruba Nation From Annihilation

. Condemn Insecurity, Fuel, Electricity Tarrif Increase, Clampdown On Peaceful Protests, Others

Yoruba self determination groups which includes Oodua People’s Congress (New Era), Agbekoya, Action Coalition, Yoruba Frontier Movement, Yoruba Action Movement, Apapo Egbe Omo Oodua, Oodua Coalition Against Insurgency and Kidnapping in Yoruba land among others have suggested ways of saving Yoruba Nation from total annihilation.

The various groups after a three hour brain storming session held in Ibadan on 1st October, 2020 also condemned the insecurity in the country, fuel, electricity tariff increase and clampdown on peaceful protests by law enforcement agents.

In a press release signed at the end of the meeting by Prince Kunle Adelakun (Eruobodo), (Agbekoya Action Coalition), Comr. Adesina Akinpelu OPC (New Era), Comr. Lawal Akeem (Yoruba Action Movement), Comr. Tajudeen Gbolagade (Apapo Egbe Omo Oodua), Comr. Aderemi Adisa (Yoruba Frontier Movement) and Dr. Kunle Hamzat said that since the first Military coup of January 15, 1966, the counter coup of July 29 of the same year and subsequent ones the Yoruba people have become progressively retrogressive through the machination and manipulation of the Fulani Oligarchy.

They added that the monumental land mark of achievement in the Obafemi Awolowo Era, like the University of Ife, Liberty stadium and WNBC/WNBS have been illegally appropriated without compensation to the people.

“The insecurity of lives and properties in Nigeria in general and Yorubaland in particular is embarrassingly worrisome. The South-West governors should be commended for the Amotekun initiative despite the initial opposition of the Federal government.”

They further stated that below the average deliberable of the Security Chiefs and the reluctance and refusal of Mr. President to replace for effective combat modalities calls for concern.

“The callous murders and delineation of autonomous Yoruba sons and daughters like Chief Bola Ige, Kudirat Abiola, Suliat Adedeji, Layi balogun, Funso Williams, Olufunke Olakunrin Admiral Elegbede Chief M.K.O. Abiola e.t.c. will never again be tolerated. The Federal Character policy has been deliberately distorted and bastardised with reckless abandonment making some Nigerians more Nigerian than others. The recent callous and insensitive hike in the price of petrol and electricity tariff to satisfy the Brotherhood Institution and their local collaborators stands condemned.

Speaking further, the groups said the right to dissent, engage and agitate in a non violence manner is universal .

“The unprovoked show of strength by the security agents in the South-West and the ban on legitimate peaceful rally is inimical to democratic process. This illegal ban on legitimate rallies can encourage genuinely aggrieved self determination groups to go underground with devastating effects to the already fragile fabrics of the State.”

The groups however called on the elected Yoruba representatives both at the State and National level to urgently without delay engage and lobby thier colleagues from other geo political zones to co-sponsore a people friendly Bill that will save the Yoruba from total annihilation.
