Leaders of several Yoruba groups on Wednesday met in Ibadan to further discuss strategies on how Yoruba Nation can be achieved peacefully.
The meeting which was held at the Parliament building, Secretariat, Ibadan had in attendance several leaders of Yoruba groups who all spoke on the need to adopt new strategies that would make the race to achieve its objective of Yoruba Nation on time.
While speaking at the event, Baale Ekotedo and Chairman, Association of Traditional Baales of Ibadanland, Chief Taye Ayorinde called on all Yorubas to unite and speak with one voice in order for the race to achieve Yoruba Nation on time.
Chief Ayorinde who commended the efforts of Professor Banji Akintoye, Sunday Igboho, Dr Victor Taiwo and and others said that Yoruba Nation can only be achieved with collective efforts of all Yorubas.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Host, Dr Victor Taiwo went down memory lane on how he has been championing the cause of Yoruba race in the last twenty years.
According to him, he has made several efforts in the past to bring all Yoruba leaders together to no avail.
“I can tell you that we have held several meetings to foster unity among Yoruba leaders to no avail. But we thank God that the result of some of our efforts is the discovery of Professor Banji Akintoye who after several meetings decided to accept the position of Yoruba leader, which many turned down. Today, I can tell you that Professor Banji Akintoye is still our leader in Yorubaland.”
Also in a speech delivered on behalf of the Convener of the meeting, Fredrick Akinseye a.k.a Engineer Ola, President of Yoruba Ji Masun Group said that everybody can now see that Nigeria is presently on fire and that it is certain that nobody can save its collapse and disintegration.
“Everybody is also aware of the Fulanisation agenda that has been on ground for quite some time now. The intention is to take the entire landscape of Nigeria as their birth right. Looking at the history of how the Fulanis under the leadership of their forebear Othman Dan Fodio conquered the Hausas and took their entire land just as well as they took our own Ilorin. To doubt the agenda operating now will surely be foolish.”
He however urged Yorubas to come together and defend their land against the Fulanis committing atrocities in Yorubaland.
Other speakers who spoke at the event all agreed that since Professor Banji Akintoye is not around, Dr Victor Taiwo should be in charge of coordinating all Yoruba groups for the purpose of achieving the Yoruba Nation on time.
Speakers include Chief Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Oba Ogboni) leader of Obinrin Oodua Agbaye, Chief Simisade Kuku, Chief Imam of Yoruba in Ilorin, Kwara State, Sheik Raheem Aduranigba, Archbishop Paul Onanuga, Reverend Felix Odetoun, Chief Adesina, Akinpelu, Anike Obot, Nureni Idris and others.
