Yoruba Group Cautions FOSSU Against Taking Sides In Oyo NURTW Crisis

The Central Council of Yoruba Youths (CCYY) has cautioned the Federation of Oyo State Students Union, FOSSU against taking sides in the crisis rocking the Oyo state branch of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW.
The Group in a press release signed by its Chairman, Oyinlola Adekanbi and Secretary, Adesoji Ifajobi condemned a statement credited to the out-going FOSSU National President, Comrade Oke Wasiu a.k.a ‘Pattern’, in which he urged the Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde to retain Alhaji Abideen Ejiogbe as the State Chairman of NURTW.
CCYY stated that it was highly disappointed with the statement of the out-going FOSSU president, saying that FOSSU should play neutral and not taking sides in the controversial issue of NURTW in the State.
“Ordinarily, we would not have reacted to such statement if it was issued on the name of the out-going FOSSU President but for the fact FOSSU was involved; we have to urgently react to save FOSSU. We are not against anybody speaking his or her opinion but what we are not in support is anybody trying to drag FOSSU into the issue of NURTW crisis.”
It added: “The Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Seyi Makinde has taken a decision on the issue and now that the issue is in the process of being settled amicably; it is an insult on the collective intelligence of the entire youths in Oyo state for anybody to take sides in the issue of NURTW in State.”
The Group however warned the out-going FOSSU President not to drag the good name of FOSSU into NURTW crisis.
“For the outgoing FOSSU President to have issued such reckless statement we know that he must have been induced but dragging the name of FOSSU into it is not what we are in support.”
