…Araba Of Ibadanland Also Appeal To Ibadan Legal Practitioners To Assist Traders Whose Bags Of Rice Were Carted Away By Nigerian Customs
Following the call by some group of people for Yoruba to secede from Nigeria; the Araba/Olu-Isese Agbaye, His Eminence Awodotun Aworemi has said that Ifa practitioners will only release a statement regarding the proposed secession after it consulted Ifa in its annual world Ifa festival coming up on March 28.
Aworemi who stated this while answering questions from journalists at a press conference organised in preparation for the annual world Ifa festival, said that Ifa practitioners will make a statement regarding calls for Yoruba secession after Ifa is consulted in its ‘World Ifa Festival’ that will begin on May 28, 2021.
The festival organised by International Council for Ifa Religion and Araba and Oluwo Forum will mark the beginning of the New Year in Yoruba indigenous religion and will attracts pilgrims from all over continents of the world.
Speaking further, Aworemi also called on general public, traditional rulers and political office holders to take very serious the words of Ifa because of it efficacy.
“Fresh in the memory is the message of Ifa in 2019/2020 which stated categorically that there would be pandemic. Had we not made the recommended rituals, the situation would have been really terrible. Another instance was from the messages of Ifa last year which warned us about imminent wars. Had we not made rituals; the series of crisis that engulfed the society would have been more brutal.”
The Araba//Olu-Isese Agbaye also urged kings in Yorubaland to see Isese as the bedrock of the crowns on their heads, appealing to them to always rule over their communities in line with the dictates of Ifa instead of alien stories that tend to promote the activities of the alien ancestors.
Also speaking to journalists at the press conference, the Araba of Ibadanland, Chief Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola used the occasion to appeal to eminent legal practitioners in Ibadanland to come to the aid of market men and women whose bags of rice were carted away by the officers of the Nigerian Customs.
“It is very unfortunate that after the intervention of our lawmakers, the Nigerian Customs is yet to return the bags of rice they forcefully took away from these people. I’m using this medium to appeal to legal practitioners in Ibadan to take up this matter by taking the Nigerian Customs to court. We all saw how a lawyer, Emmanuel Ofuegwu took the Federal Road Safety Commission, (FRSC) to court in 2014 and got a favourable judgment on the issue of new plate number.”
Araba of Ibadanland also appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to also declare public holiday on every August 20th which is Isese Day.
