Traditional Public Holiday: Araba of Ibadanland Commends Femi Falana, Others

The Araba of Ibadanland and Olu Isese of Oyo State, Chief Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola has commended human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, SAN, for declaring his support to the clamour for public holiday for traditional worshippers across the country.

Araba of Ibadanland in a press release said that public holiday for traditional religion worshippers is long overdue and that other States in all Yorubaland should emulate Osun state which had declared public holiday for traditional religion worshippers.

“As traditional religion worshippers, we are optimistic that very soon Oyo state will equally declare public holiday for traditional religion worshippers. Other States in Yorubaland will equally do the same.”

Chief Odegbola also commended the efforts of Oyo State Chapter of Traditional Worshippers Association of Nigeria, under its Chairman, Surveyor Adefabi Dasola and his Secretary, Mogaji (Dr) Fakayode Fayemi Fatunde for their steadfastness and commitment to propagation of Yoruba culture and tradition.

“I also use this medium to commend the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde who has now giving room for further dialogue between traditional religion worshippers and his government. We want to thank the Governor and also appealed to him to consider the issue of public holiday for traditional religion worshippers without further delay.”

Speaking further, the Araba of Ibadanland also commended all royal fathers and other traditional title holders in Yorubaland who are committed to propagation of culture and traditions in Yorubaland.
