Take Bold Risks, Nigerian Youth Entrepreneurs Advised

A panel of discussion has encouraged entrepreneurs to not allow failures define them and their quest to be people of impact and nation building.

The panel was a part of The Nxtion Family meeting tagged ‘Entrepreneurial Sunday: Joseph,’ where grants running into thousands of pounds were given to business owners in different parts of the world.

The trio of Global Lead Pastor of the ministry, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega; the Senior Pastor, Pastor Dami Balogun and Pastor Onye were on the discussion panel with the Senior Pastor moderating.

The panelists pointed out that a highly committed team which is loyal and passionate is the foundation of a successful business.

According to them, skills can be taught but you cannot teach heart.

‘The passion for continuity trumps it all. If you want to build a team, you should first be part of one because that experience gives you what you need. You also need to have people who are willing to work together, not just people who want to work.’

Asked about their individual regrets in business, the duo of Pastors Tobi and Onye said they have no regrets but there have been lots of lessons.

Pastor Onye was particular about the need for entrepreneurs to develop products that people will buy into. Pastor Tobi added that losing money might be a source of regret to entrepreneurs but they have to take solace in the fact that many present billionaires have lost money at one time or the other.

Talking about risk taking in business, PT said many people need to be less emotional and more realistic in business.

‘People call me the king of risk. Truth is the decision to invest is a risk itself. I think people are overly optimistic and pessimistic at the same time. They underrate the hurts that they will face and overrate their successes. Decisions have to be taken without delay because every minute spent thinking about a decision leads to a loss of money, energy and other resources.’

Pastor Onye said his very first step in business was risk taking. They both concluded by saying that interest was at the front burner in every facet of life, including entrepreneurship.

They charged entrepreneurs to allow themselves to be led by God even when it seemed stupid.

Drawing the curtain on the panel discussion, Pastor Dami Balogun said his deduction from the point about risk taking was that entrepreneurs should replace fear with faith. He explained that risk brings fear which should be conquered with absolute faith in the power of God to make His own people prosper exceedingly.
