US Tennis star, Serena Williams, has given birth to a baby girl at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, in company of her fiancé, Alexis Ohanian.
WPBF-25 news producer, Chris Shepherd, citing a source at the hospital, announced on Twitter: “Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well.”
Unsurprisingly, she gave birth in the middle of the U.S. Open, a tennis grand slam she has dominated for years.
She had been addmitted in the hospital on Wednesday which shut down an entire floor to provide security for the megastar.
Serena had announced her pregnancy in a bathing suit snap on Snapchat in April with the caption “20 weeks” amid a series of images from the couple’s tropical getaway.
Ohanian, Reddit co-founder, had disclosed how Williams will be a great mother during an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box” in early July.
“She’s very good at a lot of things and well on her way to being an awesome mom too,” he told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” in early July.
It was also reported that the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion has indicted intent to return to competitive tennis in January to defend her Australian Open title which she won while newly pregnant.
Ohanian is expected to take six weeks of paternity leave to focus on Williams and their new bundle of joy.
