Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is in talks with Manchester City and could join the club before the close of transfer window.
Ace sport journalist Fabrizio Romana disclosed this in a tweet on Thursday night.
“Juventus are waiting for Manchester City official bid to arrive in the next hours to reach an agreement as soon as possible. Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave and he won’t be available for next match. Mendes is now discussing Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester City,” he said.
Ronaldo’s potential move to the English Premier League comes a few days after Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri dismissed report of his possible move as gossips, asserting that the talisman would remain with the Old Ladies.
The return of Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, to EPL will worsen the rivalry between the two Manchester clubs.
The former Manchester United returns to England in a move that is sure to draw flak from the Red Devils fans who would be disenchanted that he is joining their city rivals.
Ronaldo enjoyed great success during his six years stay at United under legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, winning his first Ballon d’Or before leaving for Spanish giant Real Madrid in 2009.
Ronaldo, 36, will be 38 by the end of his new contract with City in 2023.
