ACCEPTANCE SPEECH PRESENTED BY LION (D.I.G.) UDOM U. EKPOUDOM (RTD.) ON HIS OFFICIAL PRESENTATION AS PRESIDENT OF UYO LIONS CLUB

Protocols Good evening fellow Lions, Leos and Guests. It is with great sense of duty that I accept the privilege and responsibility of leading Uyo Lions Club for 2021/2022 Lions service year as the President.

I am indeed honored to be given the opportunity to serve in this capacity and you have my sincere assurance that I will be dedicated to the course of Lionism in this role, the same way I have been committed to the ideals of Lionism since my induction into the Club.

I have always had the urge to get involved in a service club so that I could give back to the community in some way and I am pleased that the Uyo Lions Club is the entity through which I would deliver service to our community. I want to acknowledge the incredible and adorable initiatives undertaken by the past Presidents of the Club. Their efforts have brought the club this far in service.

As we journey into the Lions year, it is necessary that we remind ourselves of the purpose and objectives of this great service organization. This Lions year will feature projects indifferent areas such as education, health, environment, vision, engaging the youth, relieving the hunger, etc.

Our focus project is to construct a solar powered borehole along with modern water cistern toilets at St. Michael’s Primary School, Midim, Abak Local Government area, Akwa Ibom State. We intend to raise the sum of Ten Million Naira (10, 000,000.00) to cover these array of projects outlined. Our distinguished guests and fellow Lions, I believe that with your support, we can achieve this and many more.

I would like to end my speech with a famous quote by Winston Churchill who said “we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. We know that the more we give ourselves for service, the more we are likely to receive, so that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

Thank you once again for the honour bestowed upon me and I count on your support and donations to succeed.

LION (D.I.G) UDOM U. EKPOUDOM (RTD) President 2021-2022 Lions Year
