Abolongo, a correctional facility in Oyo state came under attack on Friday evening when gunmen invaded the prison with guns and grenades.
Our correspondent gathered that gunmen engaged the guards on duty on fire before using what is suspected to be grenades to blast a portion of the facility and set free the prisoners.
It was further gathered that the bandits stormed the facility at about 10pm on Friday.
Other security agencies we gathered have since mobilized their personnel to support men and women of the Nigerian Correctional Service in tracking down the gunmen and re-arresting the fleeing prisoners.
Our correspondent also gathered that Abolongo is currently being used due to the over-population of Agodi Prison in Ibadan.
