Polls Shift: Ekiti APC Stalwarts Harps On Violence-Free Election

As reactions and counter reactions trailed the postponement of the last Saturday general election in the country, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts in Ekiti State has harped on the need to have violence-free election.

The leaders of the party in a town hall meeting held at Efon-Alaaye in Efon Local Government Area of the state appealed to all the APC members not to relent but to vote all the APC candidates in the coming election and to shun violence.

Addressing party members, Hon Olamide Oni, representing Ijero, Ekiti West and Efon Federal Consistency admonished all party faithful to do the needful by coming out enmass and vote the APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari and Hon Wumi Ogunlola into the House representative and all other National and the State House of Assembly candidates on the day of elections.

The lawmaker who maintained that APC as a party has delivered on their electioneering promises which will guarantee success in the general election. “We will not relent on delivering dividends of democracy to our people which we are representing not minding the political party. Our party is the party to beat come next Saturday.

“We will continue to relate as one big family in our consistency and in our party. No cause for alarm in our party because we have put our house in order to win the coming polls. Both Ijero and Ekiti West people supported me in 2015 and we must replicated same on Saturday.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Director-General, Oni Olamide Campaign Oganization and former member, Ekiti House Assembly, Hon Owolabi Ajibade disclosed that the group has only one agenda on how to move to the next level in the APC. He  said that the meeting was organised in order to layed-off all insinuation of the perceived disagreement from any quarters.

Owolabi who thanked Hon Olamide Oni for his doggedness and for the love he has displayed for his people in the party.

According to him: “We thanked our principal for listening to us and grant our request to support our candidate, Wumi Ogunlola to realise her ambition and to douse tension in the town. We appealed to all our supporters to maintain decorum as victory is sure for our party as we approach election.

He enjoined politicians to cast their vote and to shun any act of capable of truncating the existing peace in the state, adding that, development can only thrive in a peaceful environment.

Responding, the APC candidate for the House of Representatives, Barrister Wumi Ogunlola who could not hold her joy appreciate the the party stalwarts for organising such a peaceful meeting.

Ogunlola who stressed that: “The meeting will go a long way in the history of Ekiti APC and the coming election. I cannot express how joyful I’m on this meeting seeing faces of our leaders here present. I thank you all for your support, prayers and words of encouragement.”

While pledging her readiness to deliver on her elecetioneering promises to bring dividend of democracy to the people of her constituency, Ogunlola expressed confiden in the APC of total victory in the Saturday general election.

She however implored the people of the country to let the good work continue by voting President Muhammadu Buhari for the second term so as to allow him complete all the projects embarked upon especially anti corruption crusade.
