Plateau Massacre: Police Commissioner Replaced

Bala Ciroma, has assumed office as the new Police Commissioner for the Plateau police Command.

The Police Command in Plateau had on Sunday confirmed the killing of 86 people in attacks on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

Unofficial sources said nearly 200 people lost their lives in the attacks.

But Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, announced the removal of the police commissioner, Undie Adie, in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.

Mr Adie who was posted to the state late last year.

Mr Tyopev, an assistant superintendent of police, said Mr Ciroma was before his new position in charge of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, FCT Command.

He said that the Yobe born police officer attended University of Maiduguri and graduated in 1988. He joined the force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent in 1990 and had served in various Capacities,” he said.
