The Heads of Traditional Religion in Oyo state have condoled with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the entire Oyo people over the death of Alaafin Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
The Oyo Heads of Traditional Religion, in a statement signed on behalf of the group by Araba Olu Isese of Ibadanland, Chief Ifagbemi Ifalere Odegbola II, expressed surprise over the death of the highly revered monarch.
The statement reads: “The death of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi came to us a rude shock. He was a great king who was a great supporter of the culture and tradition of Yorubaland.”
Speaking further, the Group described his death as a great loss not only to Oyo people but to the entire Yoruba race anywhere in the world.
“Oba Lamidi Adeyemi would be greatly missed for his contributions to the growth and development of Yorubaland. We pray that the Almighty God would grant the soul of the departed monarch eternal rest.”
