The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Samuel Ortom, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of the governorship election in Benue state.
The governor’s victory comes on the back of the supplementary election held in some polling units across the state.
Sebastian Maimako, the returning officer in the state, declared Ortom winner on Sunday after he secured 434,473 votes to defeat Emmanuel Jime, his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 345,155 votes.
The margin of victory was 89,318.
