A non-political group under the aegis of the Yoruba Development and Unity Initiatives (YDUI), has said that the recently launched security outfit by the South West Governors, Operation Amotekun is a brilliant initiative aimed at protecting the South Western States from insurgencies.

While reacting to a statement by Northern Group describing the Operation Amotekun as a Military wing of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), the Yoruba Mandate Group convener, Akogun Banji Ojo in a chat with newsmen maintained that Amotekun does not in anyway pose a threat to National Security, neither does it tend to jeopardize the Nigerian sovereignty.

According to him: “The rising rate of Insurgencies in the South Western states and some rampage acts of suspected Fulani Herdsmen lead to the urgent establishment of Amotekun.”

He added that the personnels of the Operation Amotekun will work with relevant security agencies to combat threat to lives and properties of the Yoruba people.

He however urged all relevant stakeholders and groups to support the security outfit regardless of their Tribe or where they belong because it is on a mission to protect the Nation as a whole.

“Operation Amotekun is mainly to protect and defend the Yoruba mission and the country as large and that is while we must give our support wholeheartedly,” Akogun Ojo concluded.
