The Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC New Era has urged the Federal Government to immortalise late Justice Adewale Thompson for his contributions and service to fatherland.
OPC in a press release signed and made available to journalists by its National Public Relations Office, Comrade Adeshina Akinpelu described late Justice Adewale Thompson as a man with impeccable character who ought to have been immortalised before now by federal government and governors in Osun, Lagos and Oyo state.
“It has been 15 years that we lost a rare gem. We lost Justice Adewale Thompson at a time we needed him. He was a celebrated adventurist, jurist, pan-Africanist, consummate politician, committed Awoist, philosopher, author, newspaper columnist, and elder statesman who contributed his quota to development Yoruba land and Nigeria in general.”
According to the Group, late Justice Adewale Thompson contributed in so many ways to the development of Nigeria and Yorubaland where he was the Secretary-General of the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) and many other Yoruba socio-cultural associations. He used his wealth of experience to uphold the sanctity of the judiciary and legal profession in Nigeria and Africa in general.
“We are using this medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari, governments of Osun, Lagos and Oyo state respectively to immortalise late Justice Adewale Thompson for his contributions to the development of Nigeria and the entire Yorubaland.
