A faction of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC New Era has berated the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams for organising the 25th year anniversary of Oodua Peoples Congress.
The group in a press release by its President, Comrade Razak Arogundade and National Public Relations Officer of the group, Comrade Adeshina Akinpelu described the 25th year anniversary of OPC by Adams as ill-conceived, selfish and attempt by Gani Adams to further destabilise the Yoruba pressure group.
Arogundade accused Adams of celebrating the 25th year anniversary of a group he was not founder and trying to take credit for the works of others.
“It came to us as a surprise that Gani Adams will once again come out to hoodwink the Yoruba people into believing that he founded Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC by organising its 25th year anniversary. Here is a man who never accorded the late founder of OPC, Chief Fredrick Faseun any respect while alive. It is the sweat of late Chief Fredrick Faseun that he is trying to reap from today.”
Speaking further Arogundade said that it is very wrong for Adams who has continued to encourage disunity of the group and Yoruba race to organise anniversary marking the 25th year OPC existence.
“Ask Adams who celebrated the 25th year anniversary of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC the kind of relationship he had with the Founder of the group, late Chief Fredrick Faseun and other leaders who made OPC what it is today? Ask him if he had ever visited the families or had any welfare plan for the families of our members who died during the struggle. You should also ask him, how many lives of Yoruba sons and daughters he masterminded their killings while embarking on supremacy battle with late Chief Fredrick Faseun?”
Arogundade who urged Yoruba leaders, Yoruba sons and daughters to be wary of Adams’ antics of being an agent of the Fulanis who has never genuinely worked for the interest of Yoruba people, except his own interest.
“For some of us who know Adams for who he is, we can tell you he is an agent working for the Fulani oligarchy. Ask him, who bankrolled his Aare Ona Kakanfo’s ambition? Ask him about his involvement in politics where he once promised a former President of 6million votes after collecting huge sums of money?”
OPC New Era President said that Adams is desperate and does not believe in the unity of Yoruba race.
“I can tell you now that he is intimidated by our efforts to make OPC one and free it from factions. While there is synergy of cooperation going on among three other factions of OPC- comprising of OPC Fredrick Faseun, OPC New Era and OPC Reformed; only Gani Adams faction has refused to be part of the peace initiative.”
