In their bid to weed out quacks and fake Ifa practitioners (fake Babaláwos), Oníṣẹ̀ṣe (the practitioners of Yorùbá Indigenous Religion) under the aegis of International Forum of Araba/Olúwo Ifá has arrested a fake Ifa Priest who specialised in duping members of the public.
The fake Ifa Priest who goes by the name: Benjamin Gboyega Babarinde, we gathered was arrested and handed over to Police by two practising Babaláwos on behalf of the International Forum of Araba/Olúwo Ifá at Technical area of Ejioku in Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday, 23rd of June, 2022.
We also learnt that the arrested fake Ifa Priest was also parading himself as a Pastor.
While speaking to our correspondent on the arrest, the Araba of Ibadanland and Olú Ìṣẹ̀ṣe of Oyo State, Chief Ifálérè Odegbemi Odegbola II thanked the members of International Forum of Araba/Oluifa in general who after carrying out investigation into the activities of the fake Ifa Priest arrested him and handed him over to Police at Divisional Police Headquarters at Iyana Ọ̀fà, Lagelu Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State.
“I want to appreciate the efforts of our members who effected the arrest of this fake Ifa Priest. And I also want to thank the Police for their prompt action in investigating and prosecuting the fake Ifá Priest who is also claiming to be a Pastor”.
Àràbà of Ibadanland also called on all members of the public to stop patronising and identifying with fraudulent individuals who are calling themselves Ifa Priests.
