One person has been confirmed dead as boys said to be those working for the Chairman of Oyo State Park Management System, Mukaila Lamidi a.k.a Auxiliary attacked phone sellers at Iwo Road, Ibadan.
One of the phone sellers who gave his name as Saheed Adeleke told our correspondent that trouble started when Micra vehicle drivers were said to have parked and blocked the front of a complex housing the shops of many of the phones sellers.
Our Correspondent was told that a son to the owner of the complex who goes by the name Ramon went to meet some of the Micra vehicle drivers to give way for people who have one thing or the other to do in the complex.
This we gathered infuriated the Micra vehicle drivers and who tried to beat up Ramon but the quick intervention of others selling phone in the complex prevented them and the issue was said to have settled.
Our Correspondent equally gathered that in about thirty minutes after the issue was settled; Mukaila Lamidi known as Auxiliary was alleged to have led thugs to attack the Phone sellers.
“Auxiliary led thugs to attack us. It is in the process that his boys stabbed Ramon to death. Many of our members who are selling phones were seriously wounded. They also looted and destroyed our shops.”
The phone sellers we gathered mobilised themselves and conveyed the corpse of Ramon to the office of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
A source at the Governor’s office who doesn’t want his name mentioned said that rather than the Governor to address the protesting phone sellers, he took another exit to leave government secretariat.
