Following the controversies that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC has generated in Nigeria, the Isese Religion has condemned the marginalization of Isese Religion worshippers in the country.
The religious group in a press release signed on behalf of Isese Religion by Araba Oluisese of Ibadanland and Chairman of Araba & Oluwo in Oyo state, Chief Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola II said that the controversies that arose due to the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC was due to the existing competition between Christians, Muslims and the complete marginalization of Isese religion worshippers (Traditional Religion) in the country.
He added: “Before the advent of Christianity and Islam in Nigeria, we all practiced Isese religion (Traditional Religion) we inherited from our forefathers and everything was okay, but today many Nigerians have neglected and even condemn what we inherited from our forefathers to embrace either Christianity and Islam.
Yet the two religions rather than uniting us as a nation have continued to divide us because some of the adherents of the two religions are not sincere. That is also the reason why Muslim-Muslim ticket is causing controversies in the ruling APC and Nigeria.
“Today, Isese religion worshippers in Nigeria and even in Oyo State have been marginalized. We deserve every appointment relating to culture and tradition at Federal, state and even local government levels. As traditionalists and worshippers of Isese Religion, we have qualified and educated traditionalists that can occupy positions that deal with culture and tradition. It is so sad that such positions that should ordinarily go to worshippers of Isese Religion (Traditional Religion) are being allotted to either Muslims or Christians.”
“For instance, we have been calling on Oyo state government to grant us Isese public holiday to no avail. They have granted Isese public public holiday in Osun state but up till now we are still appealing to Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to grant us Isese public holiday to no avail.”
