Ifa Priest, Araba Ifayemi Elebuibon has urged leaders in positions of authority to always fear God in everything they do.
Araba Elebuibon who started this in a lecture he delivered at the annual Ifa and Orisa Festival organised by Odegbola Traditional Global Services said that there would be repercussions for leaders in positions of authority if they failed to do the right things for the people.
Araba Elebuibon who is also the Araba of Osogboland cited many instances in the Ifa literary corpus where those in positions of authority who failed to do the right thing for the people ended their lives in unpleasant manners.
“When we talk about positions, we are also talking about power. Those at the positions of power who do the right thing to the people would have their names written in Gold, while those who use their positions to make life miserable for the people would also have their names written in history as bad leaders.”
While speaking, the organiser of the festival, Chief Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola II, who is also the Araba and Olu Isese of Ibadanland said that the annual Ifa and Orisa festival was not only for promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition but to also offer prayers for the peace of Ibadanland, Yorubaland and the entire country.
Araba Odegbola further stated that since he took over as Araba of Ibadanland, he has brought unity and great development to culture and tradition in Ibadanland and the entire Oyo state.
“Since I took over as Araba of Ibadanland, we have recorded huge success in unifying all traditional worshippers in Ibadanland and the entire Oyo state. Many of our members are doing well in their own various endeavours today. I also want to use this medium to once again call on our Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to consider our call for traditional public holiday.”
