Garba Durbunde, lawmaker representing Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituency of Kano state, who was abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, has been released.
Durbunde was said to have been abducted while returning to the nation’s capital after a trip to Kano; an action that was condemned by Abdullahi Ganduje, Governor of the state, calling on security agencies to secure his release.
Durbunde, who is an ally of former Kano governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, served as the commissioner for rural development in the immediate past administration in Kano state.
Tunde Adela, an aide of Durbunde, confirmed the release of his principal to TheCable but refused to go into details. However, reports say that the legislator was released after an undisclosed ransom was paid.
