The Oyo state chapter of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC New Era has warned the State House of Assembly against including members of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Oyo State chapter, into the proposed Amotekun initiative of the state.
The group in a press statement signed by Comrade Ijoye Fajobi and Comrade Kolawole Bashir warned that it would be suicidal for any state to include Miyetti Allah members in the operation of the proposed Amotekun.
“No amount of washing can remove the spots on leopard skin. No amount of pretense from Miyetti Allah will ever change who they are. No matter the kinds of crimes any of its members commits; Miyetti Allah members are usually bonded in such a way that they cannot betray each other.”
The group specifically warned the Oyo State House of Assembly not to fall to the tricks of the Oyo state Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Yaqub Bello who according to OPC is acting a script carefully prepared by his kith and kin to know the secret of the operation of Amotekun.
“Ask the Miyetti Allah chairman in Oyo state how many of the criminally-minded Miyetti Allah members has the group personally exposed or handed over to law enforcement agencies? Now they are calling for the inclusion of their members in the proposed Amotekun initiative in the state on what ground?”
Speaking further, OPC said that it is even a slap on the collective intelligence of the Yoruba people to have allowed Miyetti Allah to have participated in the public hearing in the first place.
“It is very wrong in the first place to allow Miyetti Allah into such gathering that is purely Yoruba affair. We are not against any tribe from earning their means of livelihood in the Southwest. All we want from them is to be law abiding. If truly Miyetti Allah wants to help, they should first of all demonstrate sincerity by exposing the criminal elements responsible for the various crimes that include kidnappings and killings in Yorubaland, especially those who killed Funke Fasoranti.”
