Isese Religion Condemns Killing Of Deborah Samuel In Sokoto

Isese Religion under Araba/Olu-Isese Agbaye, His Eminence Araba Owolabi Awodotun Aworemi has condemned the gruesome killing of Deborah Samuel, a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto by her fellow students over alleged blasphemy.

Isese Religion in a press statement signed on behalf of Araba/Olu-Isese Agbaye by his deputy, Araba Ifalere Odegbemi (Odegbola II), said that the gruesome killing of Deborah Samuel is callous and very distressing.

“For how long must we continue to kill people in the name of religion? Must their Sharia law be applicable to those who are non-Muslims?Deborah Samuel’s case is not the first but we want to appeal to those in government to make it the last.”

The statement reads further, “This is one of the reasons why those agitating for Yoruba Nation are agitating. There is so much injustice in Nigeria and it is so sad that our elected political office holders in Yorubaland have refused to see the conspiracy of these people.”

While calling for justice for Deborah Samuel, Isese Religion urged all security agencies to further fish out all those responsible for the dastardly act.

“The laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, guarantees right to live and the right to religion. Nobody has the right to kill anybody. Those who killed Deborah Samuel are not fit to be called human beings. Even if Deborah had done something wrong, she should have been reported to authorities of the school for necessary disciplinary action.

Speaking further, Isese Religion also called on heads of all religions to sensitise their congregations and members on the need for religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
