IGP Reacts To Indictment Of DCP Abba Kyari, Orders A Review Of Allegations

The Inspector-General of Police,  Usman Alkali Baba has ordered a review of bribe allegations made against Deputy Commissioner of Police,  Abba Kyari by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba in a press statement said that the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba has ordered an internal review of the allegations against Kyari.

“Sequel to the receipt of allegations and indictment processes from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against one of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Abba Kyari, the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc (+), NPM, fdc has ordered an internal review of the allegations.

“The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to the pursuit of justice and the strengthening of its professional relationship with the FBI and other international partners.

“Further developments on this case will be communicated to members of the public accordingly.”

Infamous fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, known as Hushpuppi, who pleaded guilty in the United States financial crimes narrated how he bribed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, according to court documents.

In a plea agreement filed late Tuesday, Abbas outlines his role in the school-finance scheme, as well as several other cyber and business email compromise schemes that cumulatively caused more than $24million in losses.

Officials said in court filings that Abbas disclosed during interrogation that he paid bribes to Nigeria’s police chief, Kyari, to have one of his rivals arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over a $1.1million dupe of a Qatari business person.
