In the bid to protect the security of lives and properties of residents of Ajawa community area of Oyo State, traditional council have agreed to intervene to call for peace and enlighten the general public about the long-standing and immediate causes of the crisis.
The traditional council, headed by Prince Azzez Oyewale Oyebunmi of the Olumole Ruling House, reveals in an online Facebook interview with Oyeniyi Esan that the crisis has root in the bitter power struggle between ruling houses.
According to him, ” The throne of Alajaawa is the root of this crisis that have murdered the peace of the community. I am also a heir to the throne making me to have a firstclass knowledge about the making of the town’s kingship.
“There is protocol to the making as regards the historical foundation of our town. The protocol establishes the fact that our ruling house is the next to the throne after the demise of the last Alajaawa from another ruling house. This protocol is widely accepted by general public.
“However, as one of the most authentic candidates for the throne of Alajaawa, my younger brother with the name Thompson Adeyeye forged my signature that I’m not interested in the kingship of the town and proceeded to the Gov. Seyi Makinde and the governor approves this forged document bearing my signature with an headline ‘Withdrawal From The Vacant Stool of Alajaawa Race’.
“As a law-abiding citizens, I headed to the court of law with evidences that the document is not written or signed by me. Forensic examination of the documents confirms the ingenuity of the documents. This shows that Thompson is a shame to humanity and his desperation to rule the town questions the ethics of leadership.
” Apart from the fact that we were in court while the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Seun Ojo confirms the fate of the entire town in my younger brother’s hand with respect to the court, council of elders and the entire children of Ajawa at home and diaspora and residents of Ajawa Community Development Association.
He notes that, ” The court declared judgement in favour of the people, customs and traditions based on historical evidences in the establishment of our town. Hon. Seun Ojo felt his ego and pride were trampled upon by the court of law for removing a king he installed while my brother said the judge was bribed to have ruled against him.
“While we await for the Royal stool of Alajaawa to be vacated by our self-accaimed Oba and go back to the drawing board to decide who to be the next Alajaawa based on the truth of which our unborn generation would benefit from, our Oba named a questionable character of our town as Youth Leader for a mission to murder the entire peace of the town. The said Youth Leader with the name Pata Nla matched down with a group of people to burn down the properties of another rightful heir to the throne.
“We petitioned the Nigeria Police Force to intervene into the crisis in order to restore the peace of the town but it is a shock and shame with the reality the investigation of the Police as regards roles played by Hon. Seun Ojo as funding the crisis with the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira.
“The Alajaawa and Hon. Seun Ojo are on the run, I mean a total run away from police invitation and investigation because they are embarrassment to leadership and shame to humanity. The number of lives both from the civilian and police are the true cost of the crisis. We indeed beg Gov. Seyi Makinde to intervene into this crisis and restore peace to the town”, he concludes.
