The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in terms of valid votes cast, in the Oyo South Senatorial election.
In seven out of the nine local government areas that make the senatorial district, whose results have been declared as of 12:00 am, the PDP has polled a total of 78,449 votes while the APC is next with 64,543 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is currently third with a total of 38,491 votes.
Incumbent governor Abiola Ajimobi is candidate of the APC, Kola Balogun is candidate of the PDP, while incumbent Senator Soji Akanbi is candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
With Professor Wole Akinsola as collation officer, the seven local government areas whose results have been turned in by their various returning officers are Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, Ibadan North and Ibadan North West, Ido, Ibadan North East, Ibarapa Central.
In Ibarapa East, PDP had 9,982 votes while APC polled 6,951 and ADC had 3,670 votes.
For Ibarapa North, PDP had 8,083 votes, APC polled 5,837 and ADC had 2,536 votes.
As against APC’s votes of 8,916 votes, in Ibadan North West, PDP polled 12,144 votes while ADC had 5,819 votes.
In Ibadan North, PDP had a total of 18,690 votes, APC 17,947 votes while ADC amassed 10,202 votes.
In Ido local government, APC polled 8,668 votes ahead PDP’s 8,108 votes while ADC had 5,265 votes.
For Ibarapa Central, APC had the highest votes of 7,147 followed by PDP with 6,577 votes, then ADP had 1,965 votes while ADC polled 1,475 votes.
Meanwhile, in Ibadan North East, PDP amassed a sum of 14,865 votes, while APC had 9,077 votes and ADC recorded a showing of 9,524.
Results for Ibadan South East and Ibadan South West local government areas are still being awaited at the collation centre at Ibadan North local government.
