Election Of Abubakar Maigandi As IPMAN National President Is Illegal; Case Still In Supreme Court-IPMAN

The Independent Petroleum Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), has described as illegal the purported election of Abubakar Maigandi as IPMAN National President.

The association while reacting to the election of Maigandi as National President of IPMAN, Zakare Atuluku, Personal Assistant to Chief Kolawole Adewoyin who is the legally recognised National President of IPMAN said that the kangaroo election that brought Maigandi as President of the association is not only illegal but an exercise in futility.

According to him, Alhaji Abubakar Migandi can never be elected as National President of IPMAN under Chinedu Okoronkwo who is also not the National President of the association but has been acting illegally for a long time.

“Both Federal High Court and Appeal Court have delivered judgments affirming that Chief (Dr) Kolawole Adewoyin is the legally recognised National President of IPMAN but the duo of Engineer Sanusi Abdul Fari, Chinedu Okoronkwo and others have prevented him from acting in that official capacity.”

“The constitution of IPMAN states three years tenure for any National President of IPMAN and not five years. These people are just acting with impunity. The duo of Engineer Sanusi Abdu Fari, Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo and others have been parties to judgements from both High Court and Appeal Court which affirmed Chief (Dr) Kolawole Adewoyin as the authentic National President of IPMAN.”

He added that the case is still currently in Supreme Court and there can be no election to the office of IPMAN National President when Chief Dr Kolawole Adewoyin is the legally recognised President of IPMAN.

He therefore called on President Bola Tinubu, Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the leadership of NUPENG, Inspector General of Police and all stakeholders in the Petroleum industry to disregard the purported election of Abubakar Maigandi as IPMAN National President.

“No recognition must be given to Abubakar Maigandi as the National President of IPMAN. Anyone who recognises him as IPMAN National President is doing so illegally. Chief Kolawole Adewoyin is the legally recognised IPMAN National President.”
