The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (PDP) has issued a final warning to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); over an alleged plot by its leadership to pick a running mate from other zones rather than South East.

The group accused the PDP of tactically avoiding addressing the issue in a statement issued to newsmen in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, by its Deputy Vice President General, Obinna Achionye and National Vice President (Ebonyi State), Alex Okemiri, after a crucial meeting presided over by the National President, Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

OYC threatened to mobilise massive support for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general election, if the PDP denies the zone the VP slot.

“OYC insists that the leadership of PDP, led by Prince Uche Secondus, is planning to deny the Igbo the vice presidential slot when the party holds her presidential primary early October 2018 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide will mobilise Igbo youths to vote massively for PDP in governorship and senatorial elections in Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu states in 2019, but, if PDP, led by Secondus, denies Igbo the vice presidential slot, we will vote massively for another party in 2019 presidential election.

“PDP should choose the vice president among the three serving governors in South East, or choose former governor Peter Obi, who is a better presidential material, with sterling leadership qualities and excellent track records of achievements as former governor of Anambra and chairman of the South East Governors Forum for eight years, and is widely acceptable among Nigerians.”
