Abubakar Al-Siddique, six-year-old son of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, has been enrolled as a pupil of Kaduna Capital school.
Abubakar was enrolled as a primary one pupil of the public school.
This was made known via the state governor’s Twitter handle on Monday.
According to a series of tweets, the governor had in 2017 promised to ensure that Abubakar attended a public school as a way of showing commitment to fixing public education and raising the standard.
“Abubakar Al-Siddique El-Rufai has today enrolled as a Primary One pupil pf Kaduna Capital School,” the tweet read.
“On 28 Dec 2017, Malam Nasir El-Rufai stated that ‘I will by personal example ensure that my son that will be six years of age in 2019 will be enrolled in a public school in Kaduna state, by God’s grace.
“Reforming the Education sector in Kaduna is a continuing struggle against decades of neglect. But the El-Rufai government has a strong commitment to fix public education and raise the standard of public schools so that private education will become only a luxury.
