Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have arrived Benin city, the Edo State capital for the grand finale of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial campaign in the Oredo Local Government Area.
This comes as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Nyesom Wike is believed to have thrown his weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, ahead of the September 21, 2024 gubernatorial election.
In what could be described as a show of force, the PDP has deployed its arsenal, with its presidential candidate in 2019 and 2023 leading the final onslaught against the Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Wike-backed candidate.
The rally, which is scheduled for Saturday, is expected to be a game-changer for the party’s governorship candidate, Asue Ighadolo, who is vying to succeed incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki.
With just days to go before the September 21st election, the PDP is pulling out all the stops to ensure victory.
In a social media post, the PDP shared pictures and videos of Atiku and Fubara’s arrival, urging supporters to join them in Oredo, Benin City, to “make history and march towards victory.”
