Kowei Samson, popularly known as Dancefreak, is shaking the entertainment industry in Africa from Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state in Nigeria with the way and manner he moves his body under the name of dance.
In an interview, the Lagos-born dancer, whose passion travels from playing basketball to fighting of Karate, relates how dancing makes his forget his troubles among all his skills.
“I noticed when I was young, my mates make jest of me because I dance at the slightest provocation. When being beaten, I dance. Dancing keep me sane in the face of troubles. I easily dance away my sorrows, pains and tears just as I dance to show gratitude for the joys and sweetness of life.
“Dance is a form of expression to me, especially coming from a challenging background comes with great troubles because my formative years is crazy.
“Life goes with prices one has to sort out by self, as the at age 8, I was a commercial dancer for Churches, clubs and events. I dance to be paid.
“I am hopeful that dance must give me a special space in the entertainment industry. A place where people with such dancing skills can see the beauty and hope”, he concludes.
