COVID-19: Oke Odo-Club Distributes Food Items To Community Members

Following the need to ease the suffering of the people as the Nation battles Coronavirus; a community based group, Oke-Odo Club, OOC, has distributed food items to members of Oke-Odo Community.

The distribution of the food items which took place at Alli’s compound at Oke-Odo area, Ibadan saw members of the group distributing food items which comprised rice, gari and other items to Mogajis and other members of Oke-Odo community.

While speaking on the motive for embarking on the philanthropic gestures; the President of the Oke-Odo Club, Dr Tirimiyu Oladimeji a.k.a TAG said that the motive was to ease the suffering of the people and also put smile to their faces at this COVID-19 period.

“COVID-19 has deprived many of our people their means of livelihood. That is why we have decided to embark on this philanthropic gesture. We are contributing our own quota towards the sustenance of humanity.”

He added: “Oke-Odo Club has been in existence since 1975. We have been contributing in many ways to the development of our community and humanity. We have assisted many youths with scholarships and we have also empowered many others to become better leaders of tomorrow.”

“We are using this medium to appeal to federal government, state governors and local government chairmen to make necessary provisions to all Nigerians as we battle COVID-19 pandemic.”

Also speaking at the event which witnessed full adherence to social-distancing, Vice-Chairman of Oke-Odo Club, Honourable Akin Alli who is also the Chairman of the Oke-Odo COVID-19 Palliative Committee said that Oke-Odo Club has over the years been contributing to the development of Oke-Odo Community in many ways.

“Oke-Odo Club is affiliated to Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII. We have over the years embarked on developmental programs for our community. We have empowered many youths in the community. We have given scholarships to many brilliant students of our community. And today’s COVID-19 palliative is also one of our ways of giving back to people in our community.”

Many of the beneficiaries who spoke to our correspondent thanked and prayed for members of Oke-Odo Club for the relief package which they said contained all essential needs.

The members of Oke-Odo Club present were include Dr Tirimisiyu Oladimeji (President), Honourable Akin Alli (Vice-President), Comrade Taofik Adeniran (Secretary), Mr Sikiru Adisa and Mr Odunola Hambal.
