The highly respected BBC African Footballer Year Award for 2018 don show, unfortunately there is no Nigerian on the list and we are very angry about it .
Instead, a five-man short-list has been announced which includes:
Mohammed Salah (Egypt), Sadio Mane (Senegal), Medhi Benatia (Morocco),Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal), Thomas Partey (Ghana)
The winner will be announced on Friday, 14 December at 17:30 on BBC.
But Naijaloaded Football Fans must have their say first
Its hard not to give the award again to Salah after winning it last year. His individual achievement speak volumes- He scored 32 goals to win the Premier League Golden Boot in May that also saw him grab the PFA award, and of course 10 Champions League goals in the run to the final is an incredible feat.
But hey, the other contenders also have a say in this.
Take Benatia for example, the Juventus defender won his fourth consecutive league title this year, then Koulibaly who was impressive for his club side Napoli. Partey won the Europa League for his club Ateltico Madrid, and Mane, Salah’s team-mate at Liverpool scored 10 goals in the Champions League and was highly influential for his country Senegal at the world cup.
