President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate his new cabinet on Wednesday, August 21.
Babatunde Lawal, permanent secretary, cabinet affairs office, said the swearing-in will follow the induction retreat for ministers-designate.
Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, listed objectives of the retreat to include: “building of a strong platform for synergy and teamwork; sensitising appointees on the status of the implementation of policies, programmes and projects of government from 2015-date, acquainting the appointees with the roadmap for delivery of government’s priorities and next level agenda (2019-2023) and deepen the understanding of participants on best practices in conducting government business”.
Mustapha, said aside the ministers-designate, others expected at the retreat are head of the civil service of the federation, federal permanent secretaries and top government functionaries.
Meanwhile the two-day induction retreat earlier scheduled for August 15 and August 16, after the Sallah break, has been rescheduled till August 19 and August 20.
The retreat will now be presided over by the president.
The ministers designate have been asked to pick up and study documents ahead of the retreat.
On July 23, the president sent a list of 43 ministers to the senate for confirmation. The upper legislative chamber of the national assembly confirmed all the nominees.
