President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the defence headquarters to probe the killing of policemen by some soldiers in Taraba state.
Sadique Abubakar, chief of air staff, made this known to journalists at the end of the national security council meeting, presided by Buhari at the state house, Abuja.
On Wednesday, the police had accused the army of killing three of their personnel while freeing a kidnap suspect.
But the army responded saying the police officers killed by its men were mistakenly taken as kidnappers.
Abubakar said has Buhari ordered immediate investigation into the killings.
The chief of air staff said efforts are being made to manage the internal security operations across the country.
He said security agencies are now adopting the use of technology to promote security of lives and properties in the country.
“We are making substantial progress in all the areas of conflicts,” he said.
“All the services are using one technology or the other in order to ensure that our country is secured.
“So, security will continue to play a role and we are also looking at other areas of technology that are not currently in use to ensure that we put together all that is required to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.”
