Benin Republic Withdraws Globacom Operating License

Benin Republic telecommunications regulator has withdrawn the operating licence of Nigerian mobile telecommmunication company, Globacom, following a dispute over new terms, according to a document released yesterday.
The regulator, ARCEP-Benin, said that it took the decision after negotiations with Glo Mobile Benin to renew its licence broke down earlier this month.
The company, it said, refused new conditions imposed by the government.
Globacom launched its services in Benin Republic in June 2008 and has since played a major role in the thriving telecommunications industry in the West African nation.
Globacom telecommunications group prior to the license withdrawal by Benin authorities were operating in four African countries namely; Nigeria, Ghana, Benin and Ivory Coast.
