The Secretary of the Oyo State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Comrade Sunday Yeye has said that a chieftain of the Union, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi a.k.a Auxiliary has ceased to be a member of the union after his convictions for crimes.
Yeye while speaking to journalists in Ibadan said that following the conviction of Auxiliary by competent court of law, the union suspended him for bringing the good name of the union into disrepute.
“Mukaila Lamidi, can never be the chairman of the Oyo state branch of the NURTW because he has been convicted of crimes. How can a convicted criminal who the Union had expelled and who had not in any way challenged his expulsion from the union now claims that he will be next Oyo NURTW Chairman? Where is that done?”
Comrade Yeye added that NURTW which the likes of Auxiliary believed in no longer exists.
“NURTW has changed. We now have a constitution and the tenure of the current executives will end in October this year before another election will be held to choose a new Chairman. The National Chairman of the Union has already stated this.”
