Armed Forces Day: Nigerian Army Must Be Diplomatic In Order To Defeat Boko Haram-Retired Captain Sule

A retired Captain of the Nigerian Army, Sule Adeniran has said that what the Nigerian Army needs now to totally defeat Boko Haram is employ the use of diplomacy.
Captain Sule while speaking to our correspondent In Ibadan, on the significant of Armed Forces Remembrance Day said the protracted war on Boko Haram ought to have been over by now if not for the fact the some members of security agencies handling the insurgency in the North eastern part of the country are compromised and that according to him has made the war to go on unnecessary.
“The truth of the matter is that some members of security agencies handling the insurgency are highly compromised. Some people are still benefiting from the ongoing war on Boko Haram and that is why the war has not been totally over or won.”
The veteran of the Nigerian civil war of 1967 said that Boko Haram militants are not ghosts and the failure of the military to completely root them out was due to the fact that some corrupt elements within military and others security agencies are directly or indirectly working with the insurgents.
“Come to think of it, Boko Haram members are not ghosts; they are human beings like us. Somebody somewhere is supplying them with the weapons they‘re using. Somebody is supplying them with fuel, foods, vehicles, motorcycles and so on. These sets of unpatriotic Nigerians who are profiting from the war will not want it to come to an end.”
Speaking further, Captain Adeniran urged the military authorities and other security agencies to make use of diplomacy coupled with intelligence gathering to totally crush the Boko Haram.
On the Armed Forces Remembrance Day which is observed every January 15; the ex—military officer urged government and military authorities to do more in taking care of ex-military officials who are still alive and the families of those who have lost their lives while fighting and defending their mother’s land.
“As today marks another Armed Forces Remembrance Day; I use this medium to appeal to military authorities and the governments at various levels to do more in taking care of ex-military officers who are still alive and the families of those that are dead. I also use this medium to pray for repose of the souls of our falling comrades; may Almighty God grant them eternal peace.”
