Alli Mourns Alaafin, Says “We Lost Custodian Of Yoruba Culture, History”

A former secretary to the Oyo state government, Akogun Sharafadeen Alli on Saturday described the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi as Yoruba history encyclopedia and custodian of Yoruba cultural heritage.

Alli in a statement he personally signed in Ibadan said the death of the monarch was received with rude shock.

According to the governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the death of Alaafin is coming at a time Oyo state needs his wealth of experience to reshape political and economic activities in the state.

He condole with the family of Alaafin, the entire people of Oyo town and the Yoruba descendants in Nigeria and abroad.

The statement reads; “I condole with the people of Oyo town, the family of Alaafin and the entire descendants of Yoruba nation in Nigeria and diaspora on the death of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Iku baba yeye.

“His death is coming at a time when the people of the state needs his wealth of experience to reshape and strengthen economic and political activities in our dear I’m state. Alaafin as encyclopedia of Yoruba history will be solely missed.”
