Aisha Buhari Gives Reason Why Her Husband Contested To Be President In 2015

Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari has noted that her husband, who contested to be President for four times, ended up as President of the country because he did not give up despite the challenges.
She recollected how, after several failed attempts, her husband became the nation’s president, following his persistence and compassion for the masses.
Buhari’s wife spoke in Abeokuta during the launch of a book titled, “Buhari vs Yar’Adua: Facing the future,” written by the Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Media, Mr Opeyemi Soyombo.
She therefore challenged Nigerians to emulate her husband by never giving up on their dreams and aspirations.
Aisha Buhari, who was represented by governor Amosun’s wife, Funsho, said if someone failed in an attempt to achieve a set ‎goal, trying again, again and again will lead to a great success.
She pointed out that there are lots of lessons to be learnt from the life of her husband who since 2003 consecutively contested the presidential election before he eventually won in 2015.
According to her, “Don’t give up no matter number of times someone tried to get to the top‎. Never mind, try again, you can compare my experience with when PMB contested the presidential elections before he finally won.
“There are lots of lessons to learn from the life of President Muhammadu Buhari, most especially his doggedness and compassion for the masses. President Buhari contested presidential election consecutively four times before he eventually won in 2015.
“His victory has paid off considering his passion to help the masses and most importantly the successes recorded in the anti-corruption war of his government.
“I commend the efforts of the writer for documenting the  Presidential Election suit between the candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and President Umaru Yar’Adua of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2007.
“This shows that the author has been following with keen interest elections held in the country and the petitions arising from them. In most recent shared views and writings on human and societal development, the investment made on other people gives tremendous yields; thus the facts and authenticity of the book are invaluable.”
In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Justice Ademola Bakre ‎said the book ‘Buhari vs Yar’Adua: Facing the Future explained how Yar’Adua governed the country, saying “Yar’Adua did not have good health be he governed us before he died”.
He noted that the author, in the book, explained that Yar’Adua’s presidential powers are now in abeyance, saying the ascendancy of Vice President Goodluck Jonathan to the post of acting president effectively took away every bit of presidential powers Yar’Adua once held albeit for a time.
“All presidential powers now reside in the acting president”, ‎noting that “the acting president can appoint and sack,” he added.
