Four suicide bombers killed between six and 15 people in a crowded market in the town of Madagali in Nigeria’s northeastern Adamawa state on Friday morning.
The police spokesman said 15 people died but a representative of an emergency service put the toll at six.
Madagali market had been attacked by Boko Haram bombers several times in recent past.
The town was also hit last month, when schoolgirl suicide bombers killed as many as 56 people in a coordinated attack on the market.
Friday’s attacks, which bore the hallmark of Islamist militant group Boko Haram, followed a pair of bombings last week in Borno state, where the Boko Haram insurgency began eight years ago.
