...Urges S/W Governors To Declare August 20 Isese Public Holiday
As Isese worshippers across the world celebrated this year’s Isese Day (Traditional Religion Day), yesterday, the Araba Oluisese Isese of Ibadanland and Chairman of Araba Oluwo of Oyo State/ Head of Traditional Religion in Oyo State, Chief Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola II has urged Yoruba sons and daughters all over the world to propagate and appreciate Yoruba culture and tradition.
Araba Oluisese Isese of Ibadanland who first offered prayers at the official commissioning of Museum Gallery at the National Commission For Museums And Monuments, Aleshinloye, Ibadan prayed for peace in the entire Nigeria also advised all Yoruba sons and daughters to begin to keep their cultural inheritance because of the future, saying that a time will come when they are going to need it.
The head of Traditional Religion in Oyo state who later proceeded to Ile Osemeji, Oja Oba and the palace of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun also offered prayers for the well-being of the Monarch, Ibadan, Ibadan indigenes and all those living in Ibadan and the entire Oyo state.
He also called on governors in South-West to declare August 20 of each year ‘Isese Public Holiday (Traditional Public Holiday).
“We are calling on all South-West governors to emulate Osun state to set aside August 20 of each year as public holiday for all Isese religion worshippers.”
“We will continue to to appeal to other South-West governors, especially our Governor in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde to set aside August 20, as Isese public holiday for the adherents of Isese Religion in Oyo State just like it is applicable to both Christians and Muslims.
